About the Director

Maggie Montes has over 18 years of experience in working with children and families as a teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University. Continuing her education, she received a Master of Science degree from Barry University in Education.

As part of her instructional career, she has worked as a teacher trainer, a mentor, a curriculum support specialist, an adult education instructor, a math leader, a grade level chair, a tutor, but the best part of all for her was being in the classroom with the students as a teacher.

With two children herself, she understands the importance of creating a school in which children are provided with early literacy skills so that they begin their educational life on the right foot. As the Owner and Director of Get Smart Kids Academy, her goal is to instill a love of learning in every child by creating a nurturing environment where children come first.
